  1. There are many travelling people who visit this district still and they very often call to country houses.
    I think the most noted travellers of the Co Wicklow are Walls the tinkers. Their home is in Merganstown about two miles outside Dunlavin, but seldom they are at home because they are continually out through the country looking for alms. Mr Wall is a tinsmith and he makes buckets saucepans and tin cans. His sons and daughters travel about the country selling them. They also sell pins studs laces and many other small articles to the people at a dearer rate than they buy them at. Oftentimes
