    Calves
October calves are fed on pail (12 pints of milk daily for the first 3 weeks) for about 7 months. They are put on grass in may.
Other calves are fed on pail for 6 mths and then on hay and roots. Calves born in may are often fed on pail for about 12 months.
    Mating season
Dealers mate the 2 yr old Heifers in January to calf the following October when milk is scarce and prices high.
Cows are often kept until the 3rd calf when they are sold at local Fairs for Dairy men or shipped to England and Scotland.
