    Wool Sale
    This buyer paid out ove £700 that Day. Not a complaint was heard.
    After the wool sale and the Sheep Dipping all is quiet until the Gathering [of and] of the flocks. Dressing the coats and marshalling the "Scores " to the Fairs and Sales of Sept once again. (Rathsallagh Fair died out about 15yrs ago)
    Oct Wethers Sale
    The wethers are sold about 6 Oct, are fattened [ed] on the lowlands and are fit [the] to see the Butcher from Jan to May when mutton is scarce.
    The Cheviot sheep is preferred for the Wicklow mountains.
    Some farmers go to Scotland for Rams.
    (I learned the sheep lesson after 30 years living at Donard)
