- (continued from previous page)Lambing Season 17th March After the 17th March a herd takes charge of the flock. They are seen at day break after breakfast at dark and about 11 o clock at night. Then the herd visits with his Hurricane lamp. The ewes are usually put in a small field (pen) about dusk. A good herd tries to to have a lamb for each ewe at the end of season. The lambing season is over about 17th April.15th April.On the 15th April each sheep farmer sends his man son or goes himself to the lowlands for the Hoggots.
