Visitors to Kilteel today can be shown a large stone trough lying in a small wood near the ruins of the chapel. Some years ago the farmer who now owns this land removed the stone trough to his stables to hold water for his horses and cattle. The next morning the trough was back in its old place.
He again hired men to have it removed but each time it was found to be back in the same place. The farmer tried no more and the stone grouch which was used as a holy wage font in the church is at the present day lying in the wood where it was thrown by Cromwell's soldiers.
This story was told to me by Michael Maher. It was told to him by Michael Wright. Age 83.
