  1. No one I know of in this district knows any story about the Great Famine.
    But I often heard it spoken about saying the people suffered from hunger. No one is able to say how people fared during the Famine period in this district as all the old people are dead, and the generation after them never bothered to ask or inquire about the stories. There are a lot of old houses in this district that are in ruin. I suppose where the old people lived during the Great Famine (1846-47).
    In some places in this district the old people used to sow the potatoes broad-cast like grain. We think they
