  1. Ferns are believed to be a poisonous weed for young calves and also the "Yew Tree" for any cattle as there is a certain amount of poison in them. Rushes are said to be bad for cattle, and good for horses. Rushes are supposed to kill cattle with worms.
    It is bad land wherever rushes grow. Wherever "docks" grow it is counted very good.
    Elder Berry wine is counted very good to take in the winter to keep away sickness. Nettles are used in the month of May as they are counted very good for keeping the Blood pure.
    The Blood weed has its name from a tear which fell from our Lord and he dying on the cross.
