Colcannon was eaten on Hallowe'en it was made from potatoes mixed with other vegetables such as onions and cabbage. On Shrove Tuesday pancakes were eaten. Tea was first used in this district about one hundred years ago, the people were very fond of it and sometimes they drank it late at night.
