  1. Potatoes are grown on our farm. About two acres are sown under potatoes every year. Now and again we have more than this. It is according to the size of the field.
    The work-man prepares the ground with horses and ploughs.
    The ground is not manured before being turned up. Potatoes are sown in drills in the fields, but in gardens ridges are used mostly.
    When the ground is prepared and is dry the farmer goes out with the double plough and starts the first scrape in the middle of the piece he has marked for potatoes.
