  1. Some old people living around here (Rathvilly) recommend cures of certain diseases,
    Measles - Giving a ferret milk to drink, and whatever he leaves without drinking, give it to a person with measles and will cure him or her.
    Whooping Cough The person affected should go in and out under an ass's belly three times. Another cure for whooping cough is to boil a mouse in water and give the juice of the mouse to the person with the cough. It prevents the whoop.
    Ringworm A seventh consecutive son is supposed to be able to cure ringworm.
    Warts Throw 9 pins into a hole in the wart stone
