    There was a man and his wife of the name of John Roche and Mrs Roche who lived where Keoghs of Gould live now. This day Mrs Roche was going to the well for a bucket of water. When she was going over the lane she saw two sticks in the form of a cross. When she was coming home she took up the sticks and brought them home to boil the kettle in the mornings.
