    the exception of Dublin that remained in the hands of the enemy. Moreover as described in the Rinuccini M.S S. the town for one hundred and two years had been a nest of heresy.
    About forty years previous to this event, the Earl of Thomond, then in possession of the Castle, gave the Catholics of the town a small plot of land to bury their dead. This was soon after the accession of James 1. This consecrated mould, for it is little else, is the subject of this brief article.
