  1. About 53 years ago there was a football match played in Deering's field of Ballyhade, between Tinryland and Castledermott. Castledermott won the match by nine points. Tinryland had Green and White jerseys, and Castledermott had Yellow and White. There were seventeen men on each team. About four hundred were looking at the match. Mr. Connolly was referee. At that time eight points were equal to a goal. The best players on the Castledermott team were Nolan, Brien and Gaskin.
