  1. Abouty thirty years ago, most people shod their own horses, and there were few forges on that account. The forges, then, had no doors, and, at night, when the smith was going home, he nailed sacks on the opening into the forge. The bellows were made of canvas, and had a wooden handle. It is said that forge water cures warts.
