  1. I live in Palatine, in the Parish of Tinryland and Benekerry and in the Barony of Carlow. There are twenty-six families, and about ninety people living there. The name Palatine was given to this village by some Germans, who planted Burtonhall wood. There are five people over seventy and the best story-teller amongst them is
