the people who made the matches were called match-makers. It was the custom to give cattle, money, or land to the bride. On the day of the wedding there would be great entertainment, such as dancing, and singing which often lasted for a week. There were also men called Collickers who dressed up in different custumes, and changed their voices to make fun. Catholics holds that it is unluckey to get married in the month of May, it being our Lady's Month.
