In 1903, a severe storm occured in this district. The wind was so strong, that a row of fifteen trees were uprooted in Burton Hall. After the storm had ceased a severe snowstorm occurred and the snow reached a depth of four feet.
The heaviest thunder storm for many years, occurred about the years 1898 or 1899. It began on a Sunday morning, and was so fierce that during Mass in Benekerry the people were so much afraid, that they flocked around the altar rails and around the priest for protection.
