  1. The heaviest thunder storm for many years, occurred about the years 1898 or 1899. It began on a Sunday morning, and was so fierce that during Mass in Benekerry the people were so much afraid, that they flocked around the altar rails and around the priest for protection. Several trees were struck by lightling and many animals were killed
