    "The Fairy Ring - At Ballyknockin"
    I heard the following folk story from an old woman whose name and address is Mrs. Grey, Fenagh, Bagnalstown, Co. Carlow. This story was told as follows -: There was a man living in the district of Ballyknockin some years ago, who was the witness of the following incident. This man owned a great number of calves. He made it a habit to see that his calves were not in the garden, as they were in a field behind it, before he went to bed. Now, this night while he was on he usual errand he witnessed a beatiful sight. The moon shone brightly in the sky. Under the shadow of it the man beheld a wonderful sight. Round in a ring danced a brightly attired group of fairies. In their midst sat one fairy playing a harp. The man never heard such music before. When they saw him they disappeared one by one beyond his sight. The man was greatly awed at this. He went over to where the fairies held their dance. On examining
