  1. There was once a blacksmith the name of Willie Cooper that lived in Ballinree about sixty years ago. Franey the robber was passing one day with a horse, and he called at the forge to get his horse shod. The smith said he only worked at plough irons but he said he could use the forge himself if he liked. So Franey brought in the horse. First of all he got a knife and cut off the legs at the knees and put them in the fire and he took them out and
