  1. A figeen - a curious old ornament of silver and tin probably belonging to pre-Christian days was found in Borris Demesne. 3 golden sovereigns and some sixpenny bits of Victoria's age were found by labourers felling trees in the "Screen" in the Demesne.
    Above story told by Clydie Boyle, Borris.
    Gold and silver coins were found when re-building wall near the cottages.
