  1. I live in Rathgeran. In the parish of Borris. In the barony of St. Mullins. The Irish name of it is Rath Ciarán. There are 94 people living in it and there are 24 houses in it. The houses are all slated. There is a place in the townland called the Glen it is so called because it is in a hollow. There are the most Murphy's and Bolger's in the townland. There are 4 old people in it. People emigrated to America and England from the townland. The old people dont know any Irish stories but they have English stories. The meaning of Rath - Ciarán is the Rath of the quicken tree. The land is hilly and there are 3 bogs. Some turf is cut out of the bogs. There are some fields called after the names of people who owned them long ago. There were a lot of houses in it in former times.
