- There is a local charm regarding murrain in cattle. That if the person who owned the cattle go first thing in the morning to the local forge and get a bottle of forge water and bring it back without ever speaking a word to anybody he must do this three mornings in succession giving the water to the cattle to drink.There are some other cures handed down from generation to generation such as the cure for a burn. The making of those cures is always kept secret. The ends of Altar candles is one item of the burn cure.The cure have the new skin on the burn at nine days.There is one certain family in the County Wexford that has a wonderful cure for cancer. If it is not internal or touched by a doctor they usually cure it.There is a man in the county Carlow who cures farcy on horses. He cures with a Prayer and handles it while he is saying the Prayer and then he sprinkles holy water on it.
