    One day there was a poor man going along the road...

    One day there was a poor man going a long the road, and he had a dog with him. He came to a Guard's barrack. He went to the door, and knocked at it. The sergeant's wife came out and she asked him had he that dog licensed, "if you have not, himself will take you." "Begor, I well believe you mam, he would take anyone, when he took you."
