  1. Mumps: Tie a caterpillar in a cloth bag round the child's neck and leave it there three days.
    Whooping Cough: (1) The first man you see riding a white horse ask him "What will cure the whooping cough' and whatever he tells you, do it.
    (2) The first man you see riding a white horse ask him to boil some milk and give it to the child to drink.
    Give the child milk that a ferret has been drinking out of.
    Make the child walk three times under an ass.
    Get a black hairy worm, tie it in a piece of cloth and put it hanging round the child's neck.
    Steep some garlic in whiskey and rub on the childs spine.
    Burns. The white of an egg will relieve the pain. Put some on linen rag and bandage over it.
    Stretch the child on the hearth and pour water over the burn.
    Rub the juice of an onion to the burn
