  1. Kilmurry is a very ancient place. There is a story told that a bell belonging to Kilmurry Church was found in a field near Shinrone. This townland is now called Bellfield. The bell was dug out of the field. When it was dug up it was put into the Protestant Church in Shinrone. Tradition says that the bell will not ring right again until it is placed in a Catholic Church.
