- 4/12/37Local FairsThere a good number of fairs held in Banagher through-out the year. There is a pig fair held every month and a scales every Saturday. Only one buyer attends these fairs and he buys up all the pigs. His name is Mr. Clarke. Then in September the big fair of Banagher is held. It lasts for about five days. Before the fair starts at all the town is crowded with tinkers and guards and buyers and farmers and gypsies. Its many a fight the tinkers and gypsies and guards have with each other. On the first two days the horse fair is held and the town is always crowded with horses and buyers. Some of the words used by the buyers when buying horses(continues on next page)
