  1. There are a few old prayers known round this district at the present time. But my grandfather knew some old prayers which he learnt when he was young, and my father learnt them from him.
    The following prayer was said when getting up in the morning: -
    "Good morning, good Jesus,
    Good morning, bright day,
    Jesus direct me on the right way.
    May soul to serve,
    My body from shame,
    Arise and get up in God's holy name."
    This prayer could be said any part of the day: -
