- Local Place-Names.
There are several fields around Ferbane with curious names such as the 'Winnowing Hill'. This is so called because in olden times before threshing engines were invented, the local farmers brought their corn to be winnowed on the top of the hill in this field. Another field is called Sherihan.
A stream called the 'Mill-race' runs through the fields of Ballylin. It is called that name because in olden times it worked a mill.
There is a hollow called 'Parson's Hollow'. It is so called because a Parson lived near it.
There are several hills called after the townland they are situated in, Endrim Hill, Derrica Hill, Ballyvora Hill, and Cruachan Hill in Ballyclare, this hill was a fairy fort and people would not go near it after nightfall.
