  1. There was an old school in Pullgh. The name of the teacher was Mr. White. It was not a very big school. In the school there were two rooms. One was the school - room and the other was where the master slept.
About thirty - five pupils went to the school. None of the pupils came until they were seven years old. When they were around fourteen years they stopped going to school.
The big boys and girls used have slates and slate - pencils, but the smaller children used write with burned sticks on pieces of boards.
Each child used bring four sods in the week for the teacher and a penny every three days.
