  1. About a hundred years ago an old school stood inside Killygally gate. It wasn't like the schools we have now. It wasn't as big as the schools now. It was just an ordinary thatched house.
    As well as school it was the master's house. The master's name was Pat Madden. He had a shop in Ferbane afterwards. Some of his people are living in that shop still.
    Irish was not allowed to be taught at that school, but the children used be taught their prayers in Irish at home.
