  1. To make "Boxty" get a raw potato and wash and peel it. Then get a tin and bore holes in it with a nail. One side will be rough and the other smooth. On the rough side rub the potato until it is worn away to pulp. Then put the pulp of the potato in a clean cloth and squeeze the water out of it. Then put the pulp in a basin and mix flour and bread - soda with it, and mix it, with buttermilk through it. Then flatten it out on the table and cut it into squares and bake it.
    Wood Work:
In Olden times farmers used to bring their butter to the market in vessels called "butts" and "ferkins"
These vessels were made of wood with hoops around the staves to hold them together.
My father seen some old "butts" and "ferkins". They are gone out of date now.
