  1. James Devery my grandfather was a very holy man. He was always seen with his beads in his hands saying the rosary, when he used be going to work and coming from it. About six months before his death it is said that the Blessed Virgin appeared to him. The evening before his death he was seen coming home from Belmont mills with his hat under his arm his rosary beads in his hands and he saying the rosary. He never used a prayer. About four o clock next morning he died suddenly.

  2. Among the green hills of Endrim about a century ago dwelt a brave old Fenian Darby Kilmartin. Darby was a wanted man with a price of £50 on his head. Many were the attempts to catch him and a triangle had been erected at Ferbane on which to hang him. Having some urgent business to perform on a fair day in Ferbane. Darby threw caution to the winds.
