    One day Cromwell and his soldiers came down the Shannon in a boat to Clonmacnois. They went into Maw Coghlan's church, and stole the bells that used to call the people to mass. As they were going home they fell out and beat each other they killed one man and threw him out into the water and the water is red to this day where the row was.
