At the time of the Black and Tans in Ireland, there lived an old man in our locality.

At the time of the Black- and Tans in Ireland, there lived an old man in our locallity. One day a lorry of Black-an-Tans was passing along the road, and this old man was standing by the roadside. When he saw the lorry coming, he got a fright and he set back into the ditch, and fell across the ditch. His son was working near by, and when he saw this happening he said. "O there's our ould lads shot at last."
Told to me by my father Kieran Redican. Aged 50 years.
