  1. The Card Player
    Once upon a time there were three brothers and they lived in Clondalara. One of them was wild, while the other two were very clever and wise. This wild lad rambled at an neighbouring house every night and there he remained all night up to two o'clock and later playing cards and gambling and all kinds of trickery, while the other two said the Rosary and went to bed at a regular hour.
    Every night they warned him to be in at ten o'clock to say the Rosary, but he disobeyed them. After a certain length of time, when the man was coming home very late, he opened his own door, and when he did, he heard a step walk in behind him. It was a big black dog.
