  1. There were a good lot of hedge schools in this district but I know nothing much about any of them except one.
    This hedge school was in a stable in Larry Rutledges yard. When the teacher and pupils were there a little while the landlord came and drove them out on the road.
    The subjects that were thaugh in these schools were, Irish, English, Reading and Writing and sometimes they taught Lain and Greek.
    They used to write on slates and sometimes the[y] mad[e] pen's from quills.
    I dont think that there was a black-board used in these schools.
