    Old Nail Making
    In years gone by there was a number of industries in Tullamore which gave employment to a large number of families. The nail making in this town was carried on by a few manufacturers but not on a very large scale. This industry was completely wiped out by the machine made nails. I heard it was very interesting to look at a nail being made and finished. The required length of iron was about eight or nine feet long. Every man had to turn out nails required for supplying different orders. The work was very hard and
