This song was composed by Thomas Hodgins who lived in Castletown.

He is dead about forty years. He wrote it about his neighbour who lost money at the thimble-riggers at the fair in Ballycumber
    1
The second day of blooming May.
    It been at Ballycumber fair.
I took a strole with Tom Malone who
    often cut a figure there
And in we went to Jimie's tent
    Politely shown up stairs
Where Beau and Bell vied to excell
    In dancing native airs
    2
We neatly fed on ginger bread.
    Drank Bacchus old whey.
That well toned drone roused up Malone.
Squeezed up by poor old hay.
