  1. This song was composed by a priest in the parish named Fr. Gibbons about thirty years ago. He composed it to show his displeausure against an eviction which took place in Charleville.

    And many a sight I spied.
    Of Castles, towers and shady bowers.
    And lawn extending wide
    Of lawns extending wide my boys
    Where the deer bounds fair and free
    And wild fowl run in noon day sun
    In sweet security.

    But near the gate I must relate
    I met an aged man
    I said "where are the people gone
    Oh! tell me if you can."
