  1. Hedge Schools.
About two miles from my native place at Killeagh Co Cork a hedge school existed in bygone days. Various subjects were taught there including Irish, English, and many other subjects. After a time it flourished to a great extent, a large number of people attended it and they received a high standard of education which proved successful to them in after years. Many useful books were used by those who attended. The Teacher stayed at a neighbours house which was nearby, during his period of teaching.
