  1. Last week I passed through Charleville
And many a sight I spied.
    Castle towers shady bowers
    And lawns extending wide
    And lawns extending wide my
    Boys where the dear bounds
Fair and free where the wild
Fowl run in noon day sun
    In sweet security.
But night the gate I must relate
    I met an aged man
I said where are those people gone
Pray tell me if you can
Or where for this deserted house
Through its rood the rains comes down
Behold the bailiff's work he said
And he cursed the agent Brown
He turned out the orphan boy
    And his sisters too also.
Little he cared how they fared
Or where they had to go
The sheriff and the bailiff came
And the forces of the brown
The old old game was played the same
And he curced the agent Brown.
