  2. Our landlord was Lord Digby. He lived in Geashill in a castle. The ruins of the castle are there now. It was burnt down during the troubled times. Lord Digby was a Rear Admiral. The Dempseys owned the barony of Geashill before Lord Digby. He married Miss Dempsey and in that way became owner of the Barony of Geashill. He spent most of his time in England where he owned large estates. Some winters he came over to hunt. He left the charge of his estates mostly in the hands of his agents. One of his agents named French was disliked greatly by his tenants. He evicted anyone
