- In towns land of Cappincur in parish of Killeigh lived a man
named Purcell. Coming on day from Tullamore he saw an ass
on the road. The ass was feeble; old and hungry looking.
A stream, crossed by a foots stick separated the road from a
rich field. He took the ass in his arms, cross the rootstock
and left him to graze the rich grass.In the field in Ballydownan, Geashill, one evening after a
football march, he wrestled six men in succession and
threw the lot.Bartle Yarr of Logmore, Geashill was the best jumper in the Barony of Geashill Behind the castle hills are Two hills
known as the split hills. In the valley is a big wides of wall.
He was the only man in the Barony that jumped that and
back again.
