- St. martins Day is on the first of September and on this day people kill something such as a hen or a duck and they go round all the stables on their farm and they drop the blood in each stable. They say that it keeps away sickness from all their stock and fowl and keeps them from dying. It is said to be unlucky to do any work on St. Stephen's day
- On Monday and Thursday the cure is applied for wildfire, toothache, ringworm and yellow jaundice.
- They say that Trinity Sunday, the day previous, and the day following are "Cross Days".
- Friday is supposed to be a lucky day to start any work or move to a new house. It is also a lucky day to set eggs.
- People say that if you churn on the first of May you should keep a small piece of butter without any salt in it.(continues on next page)
