  2. In the Penal Days there was Mass said in Mr John Coyne's field, Bracklin, Kilbeggan, Co. Westmeath. It was said around a hole called English's Hole. People used to go to the hole to get their children Christened. There was water down in the hold to Christen the children.

  3. In the Penal Days there was a priest pursued across the fields in Ballyday. The horse jumped the highest part of the ditch at Dery Hill on the right hand side of the road going into Tullamore. But neither the priest or horse were injured. There was a priest caught and he was hanged out of a tree at Shranragh Hill. The branch he was hanged out of was cut off and left i the tree, it was there for years after. Then it withered away. The tree fell also after a time.
