  1. My Home District.
I live in the town and townland of Edenderry, in the parish of monasteraris.
There are about five hundred families in the town. The family name most common is O' Connor Edenderry mean the "brow of the oak: an account of an oak wood on a hill breside the town.
There are about thirty old people living in the town, and one man can speak the Irish language. A good number of people went to America. There are two woods in Edenderry, Clonmullan and one behind the church, there are the ruins of an old castle in this wood.
The river Boyne is about a mile from the town, and supplies the town with water.
There is a Branch of the grand canal coming into Edenderry.
The school in which I am writing this was built in 1803, and cost together with the house at the back
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
