- Mass was celebrated under a bush about 200 yards from Millgrove Bridge (Brackna) long ago. The bush which was a whitethorn was cut down when the river was being recently cleaned. The field was called "priests' island & there was mass there in 1798.
- Battle in Kilnantic hill (on borders of Kildare & Offaly) between Irish & English. Leader of Irish was Captain Dooley and it is said the Irish were drunk. They tarred a lot of bullocks and set them on fire and let them out to meet the English.
