    buried there and it is said that a white woman is seen there very night. There was a woman by the name of Mrs. Hayes who was coming from Leary's who was smoking a cigarette. She was going out in the gate and the cigarette was taken out of her mouth. There was a man by the name of Richard Gaul who was coming out in the gate when a man lay over the gate and Richard spoke and got no answer and he went on. The man was not a human being at all but a spirit, and it was seen by several people.

  2. Ballyhogue in '98 had one of the greatest heroes of a woman that ever lived.
    When the yeoman came to search her house and to burn it and to arrest her parents, she, one Biddy Flood of Garrenstackle, Ballyhogue, concealed herself behind the door and waited for the yeoman to enter.
