1. The Care of Farm Animals

   The local people care the animals very well. The farm animals are horses, cows, sheep, calves, dogs, and cats. Some people keep a good deal of poultry.

   These animals are kept in the house in winter and are out in Summer. The horses are tied in the house at night with a halter. They are fed with hay, mangolds and oats. The mangolds are not cut up small for them. When we are calling the horse we say "Come, Come"

   The cows are tied in their house at night with a chain around the neck. When they are being miked the people tie the cow's legs afraid she might kick. This is called spancilling. They are fed with straw and turnips cut up small. When we are bringing home the cows we say "Chew, Chew, Chew home"

   The calves are in the house by night. They are not tied at all. Their feeding is separated milk and linseed meal scalded with boiling water. When we are calling the calves we say "Suck Suck" etc

   The pigs are in the house by night. They are not tied at all. Their feeding is separated milk and linseed meal scalded with boiling water. When we are calling the clves we say "Suck Suck" etc
   The pigs are always in the house. Their feeding is boiled turnips and meal and sometimes potatoes and meal boiled together. When calling pigs we say "Tár aris Deach Deach" etc

   There is not much bother with sheep only
