Shingle:- They said that if a person with shingles was brought to a woman who did not change her name when married & she bled her own finger & made a ring on the person's body the shingles would not meet on the person & would not kill them.
For a weak stomach, burn a cabbage stump, take up the ashes & take a teaspoon full at a time - also the bark of a deal tree.
To clear the blood - salt & water drunk.
For a scald boil ivy leaves & rub the water on it.
Bathe chilblains in salt & water or put quickly into very hot potato water.
